David grew up in Fair Oaks, California, and currently resides in South Eastern Idaho. He received a BFA from Brigham Young University, and an MFA from Arizona State University. His most recent work is influenced by and connected to the imagery of the landscapes that have shaped his life––the rolling hills surrounding his favorite beaches, the mountain passes he traveled as a child with his family, and the lines and shapes of the farms of rural Idaho. Through his painting methods and choice of materials he explores the tension between the wildness of the natural world and our human desire to create our own version of order and balance.
